Click to enlarge The Historic Victorian Style Judge's Stand had once served as the centerpiece of the Great Lehighton Fair later renamed the Carbon County Fair. Lehighton was the home of the fair from 1858 to 1992 -the Stand always stood as the main icon at the center of the fairgrounds. (previously located within the Lehighton Area School District grounds) The structure is believed to be the last of its kind in the US. The roof was considered an engineering marvel  in that it could be cranked upwards manually to allow the judges to be seated in the judging area and avoid the elements. When not being used, the roof could be cranked down and would enclose the area.

With the help of the DLNHC the Borough had obtained a $20,000 DCED Grant for the refurbishing of the stand. In 2012, Lowe's had contacted the Borough expressing interest in assisting with the project through the Lowe's Heroes Volunteer Program. With the help of Lowe's, the project had come to a reality. The historic Judge's Stand is now located at the Grove Park at the corner of Eighth and Iron Streets.

It has been an honor to work with Kerry Collins, General Manager and the hard working staff of Lowe's. The most joyous part of local government is seeing projects come to fruition along with showing the community tangible results.  The Lowe's Heroes have made the completion of the Judge's Stand a reality. They had approached the Borough with their program and fulfilled our visions for the historic Judge's Stand. Their contributions to the community deserve much credit and thanks. "

The Judge's Stand is a work in progress. The Borough continues to accept donations for the completion of the project.
